As you can see, I'm still avoiding faces and hands.
At first, I was not going to draw for a while, since I have a lot of writing/studying to do, but I had a really terrible week and I just had to do something to relax, something simple. I started it yesterday evening and finished it today. I made a speed record here. And I have to say I feel a whole lot better now.
Anyway, I think it came out great. The jacket was kind of tricky, but I improvised in some places to make it easier to draw. Hope you like it.
I would like to dedicate this drawing to ~KilikaMel. I can't thank you enough.
○ A4 drawing paper (drawing itself is 14x22 cm) ○ 2B mechanical pencil ○ 2B pencil ○ Faber Castell watercolour pencils ○ Derwent Artists pencils ○ Derwent Graphitint pencils (awesome stuff ) ○ Eraser pen, regular eraser ○ Tissue ○ Paper stump ○ Reference from hughlaurie.net
The subtle work on the shading is impressive, as is the way the stitching of the jacket is implied by the direction of the stripes - it looks so realistic!
By the way - have you ever watched "The Talented Mr. Ripley"? I can't guess whether you're linking the title to that movie or not.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

Dank je... nog eens. ^^
Thank you so much!
And you're right, I was going to name it just "Mr. Laurie" but then I decided to steal the movie title and use it for my drawing.
Btw, I think that movie sucked compared to the novel. I don't know if it's Matt Damon's fault or something else.
